In 2026, as the mass production of vehicles utilizing 800V high-voltage platforms accelerates, the technical threshold for new energy charging cables is rising significantly. I. 800V High-Voltage Charging: Cables Face Three Major Challenges
Current mainstream 800V platforms require charging cables to meet the following criteria:
Voltage Withstand Rating: Must pass a 10kV DC withstand voltage test, with partial discharge levels not exceeding 5pC;
Thermal Dissipation Capability: Under high-power charging conditions, liquid-cooling structures have become the standard, capable of stably carrying currents exceeding 500A;
Durability Performance:Must demonstrate resistance to repeated plugging/unplugging, abrasion resistance, and robust electromagnetic shielding.
II. Water-Tree-Resistant XLPE: Extending Lifespan from 20 to Over 30 Years
Ordinary cross-linked polyethylene is prone to forming "water trees" in humid environments, leading to insulation aging. Modified water-tree-resistant XLPE utilizes special additives to inhibit water tree growth, extending the cable's service life from approximately 20 years to over 30 years.This material is particularly well-suited for underground installation, energy storage connections, and new energy vehicle wiring harnesses.
III. Eco-Friendly Materials: Low-Smoke, Halogen-Free (LSZH) Compounds Fully Replace PVC
Traditional PVC materials are being rapidly replaced by Low-Smoke, Halogen-Free (LSZH) flame-retardant polyolefins. These new materials produce minimal smoke and emit no corrosive gases during combustion, making them a mandatory requirement for applications such as subway systems, charging stations, and energy storage systems.
